The West Fife Family History Group was founded in April 2008 with the intention of providing a meeting place for all those interested in Family History. We are growing fast, currently (Spring 2010) having 35 members. We are a friendly, social group and our meetings are very informal. Our varied programme includes speakers, workshops and visits to places of interest. There is a wide range of knowledge in the group and we are happy to welcome new members of all levels of experience. If you are new to genealogy we will help you to get started. Hit that brick wall? We’ll try and help. Although some of our members can trace their families in this area back to the time of Malcolm and Margaret, others are researching families not only from West Fife but from all over the UK and abroad. With the fast-growing interest in Family History there is a vast range of material and sources to be found in the local area for researchers of today. Information can be had through local classes, the Libraries, The City Chambers and Dunfermline City Archive. The City Archive would welcome the deposit of any Family genealogies for conservation purposes. Between the Archive and ourselves we hold a wide range of source materials that can help you in your research. We meet in the City Archive (map below) on the last Wednesday of the month at 1.30p, from September through to June. On other occasions we may go on an excursion For any further information on our group, pop into the City Archive at Walmer Drive, Dunfermline between 10.00am and 12.00 noon any Wednesday or Friday.
